Liger Wins the Junior Title for a Fourth Time

On this day 29 years ago, Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger became the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion for the fourth time (he’ll win it seven more times in the future). The victim on June 12, 1991 was Norio Honaga, and 14,014 people in Tokyo’s Budokan Hall witnessed this historic event.
Black Tiger II Wins the BOSJ

The 1996 Best of the Super Juniors wrapped up on June 12th in Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium in front of 6,650 spectators. The late, great Eddie Guerrero, under the hood as Black Tiger II, won the tournament, besting Jushin Liger in the main event on this night. Also, in the semi-main, new tag champs were crowned, as Kazuo Yamazaki & Takashi Iizuka beat Junji Hirata & Shinya Hashimoto.
